CSI Research Competitions

The CSI is pleased to announce the availability of funding to support the initiation and/or development of collaborative research projects by faculty doing work aligned with our mission. This call offers up to $2000 for Spring ‘20 activities and will prioritize proposals aiming to bring faculty and graduate students together to explore the possibilities of new collaborations. Groups that have already been formed but have more ambitious or specific plans for the Spring term, possibly leading into the Summer, are also encouraged to apply.

Proposals (2-3 pages, single-spaced) Should Include

  • Names of participants (we encourage mixes of graduate students and faculty, as well as applicant teams from differing disciplines and specializations);
  • Statement of Research Cluster’s title, purpose and research focus and how it aligns with the mission of CSI;
  • A narrative describing proposed activities for Spring Quarter 2020. (We expect to receive proposals primarily for the initiation of research clusters, which would entail meetings to discuss shared interests as well as collective attendance at campus talks followed by post-talk discussions);
  • A detailed budget (a member of the proposed research cluster should consult with CSI staff prior to submitting for a discussion of allowable expenses).

 Priority will be given to groups with larger numbers of participating faculty.
