Volunteering for the 805Undocufund has been a very rewarding experience. As an undocumented person, one is limited to many types of aid. Additionally, providing personal information to strangers may be very uncomfortable, which may hold back many people from seeking help. During the application process I experienced a bit of hesitation from some families when answering questions about their legal status. However, as the daughter of two immigrant parents and having been undocumented myself truly allowed me to empathize with applicants and feel their worries during these unprecedented times. Throughout the process I was able to build a stronger trust and connection which was very heartwarming. Also, hearing their gratitude was very touching because for many we may be their only resource at the moment.
